About

I've always been an avid writer and researcher.  I've written a couple of pieces for my company's blog, which scratched that itch. In addition, I've been fortunate to be able to complete my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction through George Mason University, which has provided additional opportunities beyond work to write and research.

Below are links to a few writing samples that showcase both a casual tone as well as a more academic approach.

Since 2015, I have been teaching English to learners of other languages. It has single-handedly been the most eye-opening and gratifying learning experience of my life. I typically taught classes later in the late evening at local high schools. Students would file in after a long workday, willing to work hard each week to better understand the English language. Some learned so they could get a promotion at work. Some learned so they could understand their children's homework and be able to help them with it. Some learned so they could better communicate with their doctor. Some learned out of shear love for the English language. I have taught beginners through Advanced level students. One of my favorite courses to teach has been Reading Comprehension, as it allows me to revisit some of my favorite pieces of literature.

I am also a certified administrator for the BEST Plus test, which is an exam administered to individuals to assess their oral language proficiency. I have learned more about human beings doing this work of teaching adults another language, but I have also had the opportunity to design some fun courses, leverging my instructional design skillset. Below is an example of one of the courses I routinely teach.
